My Journey & Mission

Welcome! My name is Shekeisha Jones. I attended the National Massage Therapy Institute and have been practicing massage therapy for nearly eight years. Despite all the successes that I’ve had helping people manage their pain, it soon became evident that soft tissue manipulation is just one portion of helping people become pain free. I decided to learn more skills to help heal the whole person, so, I became certified as a personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise. I realized I could help reduce pain more effectively by teaching people correct movement patterns, identifying pain triggers, strengthening weak muscles, and correcting muscle imbalances, all with the goal of creating lasting results. Additionally, helping them reduce the risks of cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and some cancers, while strengthening bones, and improving mental health and mood.

In addition to reducing health risks and managing pain, I knew that fueling the body to perform at optimal levels would help the whole person, so I became certified as a Health Coach through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute specializing in nutrition focused towards Adults & Seniors, Parents & Children, & Pregnant and Nursing Mothers. During my training, I was taken back at the devastating effects of the standard American diet. All the chemicals added to our foods, the processing it undergoes, and the correlation of the epidemic of disease that we have succumbed to, is sickening. When people think about pain and their physical & mental wellbeing, nutrition is overlooked a lot of the time. We blame genetics for most diseases, but a healthy lifestyle can improve or even prevail inherited risks in many cases. What we expose and are putting into our bodies correlates with the reason we have pain, inflammation, & disease. We have to begin to look at the body as a whole. What we eat is affecting all of the systems in our bodies. When one system isn’t functioning correctly, it will begin to create problems in other areas and so on.

Addressing physical and mental well-being is key to improving the quality of your life. When you feel your best, you can perform at your best. Again, just one new lifestyle change can cause a ripple effect with one new positive habit leading to another positive habit and so on until you’ve created a new improved lifestyle. We live in a world where busy is the norm, and it may seem impossible to find time to manage stress, exercise, and eat a nutritious diet. Neglecting to care for your body may eventually exacerbate avoidable issues that leave you with no choice but to slow down, or taken to the extreme, take your own life.

My goal is to educate and empower my clients with a customized plan to fit the needs of their lifestyle. Regardless of your situation or stage in life, it is possible to improve your quality of life. Today, many people ingest a pile of pills just to make it through the day. In some cases, simple lifestyle changes would allow you to reduce or come off your meds and reverse various ailments. Trust the process; it is possible to reap great rewards for your health! A certification by the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute is obtained only after completing the extensive course work and meeting all requirements. Once certified, a Health Coach possess the knowledge, tools and resources to make a positive difference in the health of others.
